Howard Chandler Christy Art Guild Show

I was a participant in the Howard Chandler Christy Art Guild Show in McConnelsville, Ohio July 25th and 26th. The work shown above was part of my presentation-"Roy and Amy's Place" and "gone to Seed". A subtitle for this past weekend could be "Dr. M and the Traveling Art Show". Rain on Saturday cut Saturday's show short, thus I packed up and returned home. A sunny Sunday found us traveling back to McConnelsville. I met a lot of great people, visited with family as well as friends of my family. The link below is a story in the Zanesville newspaper.

Using our Faculties Show-High Road Gallery

Door Number Two

Morgan County Spring

The above paintings are a small portion of a show being presented at the High Road Gallery in Worthington, Ohio. A very broad variety of art can be seen at this show. The website for the gallery is: http://www.highroadgallery.com/

Regarding my work, I am my own worst critic. I would like to change a few things in each painting, but what is done is done. Both paintings are based upon photos that I were taken by the artist over the past year.

Central Ohio Watercolor Society (COWS) Spring Show 2009

These two paintings are my contributions to the Central Ohio Watercolor Society 2009 Spring art show. The show is a juried event and is being held at the Church on Mill Run, Hilliard, Ohio. COWS has an active membership of over 100 people. To become a member of COWS, the potential member must submit several pieces of work to be evaluated by a membership committee. For me, to be accepted into the organization is an honor. I have been a member since 2007.

Industrial Watercolor #2

Que Pasa? A painter of light? On occasion I consider myself a painter of junk! I like to find interesting shapes and colors in junk, rusty metal, old cars, trucks tractors... . My painting "Tanksalot" was inspired by a storage area outside of the weld shop where I work. My good friend Stan P. would say "It's a painting, not a postcard". Hasta Luego!

Industrial Water Color

Que Pasa blog world? The pic above was painted from a "self created" still life. I work in a steel fabricating factory. Long lengths of steel angles, channels and tubes are cut to specified lengths to fabricate various products. The end of the steel is usually defective and is cut from the long length of steel; these end pieces are known as drops. I collected a number of steel drops to create the still life. "Drops" is the title of the painting.

Barb, of the Village Gallery-Sunbury,Ohio, and I discussed this painting after framing and between us we chose the term "Industrial Watercolor" to describe this type of painting. I like the term since it describes several of my paintings.

More industrial watercolor will follow. Hasta luego!
